Monday, December 1, 2014 - Weekly tasting group #145; Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2005 (@ VD): The bouquet has some pleasant barnyard impressions, garrigue, salty licorice, some mint and ripe red fruits. On the palate red fruits and minerals, a beautiful balance between acidity and sweetness, some tobacco and laurel, beautifully ripe tannin and a good length. The wine is ready now and will probably stay on this level for several years. 2020 will probably be no problem, but I hope to taste this again around then to see if there is more potential.
