Bright brilliant ruby, very closed nose even after hours of decanting, the wine just engulfs the mouth with alcohol, cherry liqueur, raspberries, spice, tannins, sweet red fruits, clove, mint, bark and damp earth, the finish just keeps evolving and evolving and evolving for 45 seconds plus, an absolute bomb of a Chateauneuf. Not as balanced, rich or approachable as the Clos des Papes but much racier and high-toned. Impossible to score but easily a 93+ wine.
