Sunday, June 17, 2018 - This wine took a long time to come up in the glass, even after 2-3 hours of decanting. There is something intransigently brooding about the style of Vieux Telegraphe that I still find difficult to come to terms with. Just a little too much earthy backbone, which gives depth but no complexity. This might be CNP terroir ( I would like to think that), except that there are other domains from this region (no names) that produce a gentler, more inflected wine.
As for the wine itself = wonderful mouthfeel, dark tastes (liquorice, cassis). But with a vertical integrity that has lost the horizontal axis entirely.
For my sins, I drank Medoc normally. So perhaps I shouldn't stand in judgment.
