Sunday, December 16, 2018 - At just $20 (in Ontario), this is certainly fairly basic Priorat. But even basic Priorat, when done well, can be really good, as this certainly is. There isn't the depth, concentration, or intensity one finds in the better stuff, but it hits the right notes with fresh blackberry, stewed berries, dried fruit like raisin and fig, caramel, and mild brown spice, along with nice, regionally characteristic acidity and minerality cutting through those richer elements. There could be better integration, but the overall balance is nonetheless pretty impressive, if certainly expected from Priorat. I'd say this is a fine, accessible introduction to the glories of the region.
