Wednesday, May 9, 2018 - The 2013 El, Ixsir's top cuvee, is an absolute delight in the infancy stage of a promising evolution. This superbly balanced blend of Syrah, Cabernet and Merlot boasts a thick, almost impenetrable, deep purple core and unleashes an irrisistible aromatic bouquet of blueberries, vanillin, damp forest floor and hints of crushed rocks. This big and bold elixir indulges the palate with a muscular, full-bodied structure and interlaced layers of rich dark chocolate as well a lovely subtle blend of raspberry coulis and Grand Marnier. The delightful velvety finish lingers on and on, leaving you yearning for the next sip. This beauty could benefit from another couple of years in the cellar - not that I had any regrets pulling the cork now! To be enjoyed over the next 2 decades.
