Sunday, September 12, 2021 - Ample an inviting on the nose with a mixture of exotic fruits: ya pear, cantaloupe, orange marmalade, quince paste. Floral and herbal notes add complexity and depth with dried apple blossoms and daffodils and a touch of fennel fronds. That's all then layered by tertiary characteristics of marzipan and hazelnut brioche. On the palate it's tensile and incisive. Full bodied and textured with a chalky finish. There's acidity there to balance out the wine, but it's a supporting character rather than the protagonist. Quite lively petillance. Not overly aggressive, not dimmed, but just right the right level to add brightness to the wine. Towards the end of the evening (3-4h in), the wine stated to fade and it began to feel slightly disjointed with its oxidative notes.

ABV:12%
Decant: N/A
Stem: Grassl Mineralite
Assemblage: Usually a 80-20 blend of PN and Chardonnay. Disgorged Jan 2021
