Saturday, October 22, 2022 - Retail $50. 75% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay. 100% Grand Cru. Another bottle and another evening of lamenting how much I love this wine but am dismayed by the rather meteoric rise in its retail price. Similar notes again, but my reviews of this wine are likely limited. Too bad as this is really good stuff (although this bottle seems to be a little less so).

11/24/2022 6:41:00 AM - OK, what is the new 'go to'. I tried several from Total Wine (other than Costco best prices) and was disappointed. Then I bought Billecart Brut, a wine I long liked (cheaper than Bollinger Sp Cv, my favorite). I was completely underwhelmed. The complexity, toastiness, brioche of past BS were missing. It would have been OK for $20+ less. I'm willing to spend up to $50, would prefer less. Roederer Ermitage, the only domestic worth buying - a sibling of champagne, has skied to the same level as champagne. Going to the store tomorrow, probably with more disappointment afterward.

Re Taittinger, Total and HEB same price, $42 and change. Have you tried Marie de Moy Grand Cru Brut?

11/29/2022 12:12:00 PM - It sounds like you prefer Pinot-dominant wines (as do I) and while I like Taittinger, it is a bit lighter in style. I really like Piper-Heidsieck, the Brut and Extra Brut are quite good. Our H-E-B has a new cuvée, Essentiel, which is fantastic (and varies between $40-45). I also like all of the André Clouet champagnes at Spec's.

12/4/2022 2:41:00 PM - I didn't buy the Piper's from Costco, don't recall the bottling and deleted the photo. Bought Coulon Heri-Hodie from JJ Buckley in a bit of frustration when ordering a PN (last time with them, shipping $79 ... if I'd known, no buy). The Coulon was more than I wished. We'll see. Thanks.
