Friday, January 10, 2014 - Over lunch at Absinthe. A very enjoyable CdP, right in its peak drinking window. This had a beautiful nose, very fragrant, with lovely wafts of sweet red cherries, wild flowers and garrigue floating over a little meaty earthy undertone. This really smelt of Provence. The palate was a joy to drink. Beautifully soft and velvety, it showed plush cherry-ish flavours seasoned with a little spice, a little meat and a touch of mineral. There was a nice plumpness on attack that leaned out a little at finish, but it was always elegant balanced and proportioned. Decent finish too, maybe lacking a touch of length, but it ended charmingly with a little brush of bittersweet herb and garrigue. With time, even that filled out a bit, and nice drift of peppery spice emerged. Very enjoyable.
