Monday, January 17, 2022 - "Münsterer Im Pitterberg" as it appeared only in 2015 afaict. 9.5% abv. AP 30. $22. Screwcap. Quite a bit of gas came out of solution when the closure loudly popped open. Crystal-sharp green apple announces the smell and the taste. Jagged flagstone dressed with green apple and green grape. This is not a dry wine, but the sugar is largely absorbed in its structure—so it acts dry. The finish is forever. It resonates with harmonic wave forms. Sneaking behind all that, now, is a new lead in the dance of a drink. Now every slurp is dank with red berries and green tea. Drooping rosebuds. Paper-edge acidity. The beginnings of garden green petrol chalk. I remember taking my first taste of this cuvée late in 2017. It cut through the noise like an 9mm shot. And then, in those days, it sat on the shelf, smug in its lime oil; sweet virtue. Folks just weren’t as in to Riesling then as they are now. 93 points. 48 HOURS LATER: peppermint, icy and arid. A hushed intersection of sweet and dry.
