Monday, December 20, 2021 - Drank 90-150 minutes after decanting (and probably needs a lot more time airing as it improved over the drinking period). The color is a deep garnet. The aromas are somewhat attenuated, but have raspberry, cherry, and notes of clove. The palate, like the nose, is subtle, and has cranberry, cherry, with a primary of mineral and limestone. There is a nice level of acid and medium+ tannins with a faint bitter aftertaste on the finish. Medium body. ABV 13.0%.
For the first tasting (above) I decanted half the bottle using a Coravin. I finished it off tonight (1/11/2022) with about the same amount of airing. This tasting the wine seemed more fragrant and smoother, without the noted aftertaste. I will also revise the recommendation to air it longer and say perhaps to drink it within 2+ hours of decanting. The bottle did have some small amount of sediment, so decanting is advised.
