Thursday, October 6, 2022 - I let this one breath for about an hour in the decanter even though greeted with perfumed red cherries and cola / anise / cardamom spices as it was decanted. Rewarded with a bright wine, juicy cherries and pommegranate with a black tea earthiness and a bark-like resinous tannic finsh (followed by a juicy, tart, acidic cranberry resurganece on the fade). Extended evaluation and retro-nasal olfaction (aka dignified slurping) uncovers a leathery textured tannic structure that grips the tongue and roof of the mouth followed with an almost instantaneous wave of acidity that re-wets and creates a palate development that promises more life ahead. Well structured with a clear demarcation between acid and tannin, but the harmonization should come with time. No reason to shy away form the original A- (92) evaluation.
