Thursday, December 24, 2020 - For background, check out importer Kermit Lynch’s website notes on Faury. For adjectives, Bontam’s note before mine is precise and consistent, mostly. A couple of exceptions: the finish in my glass is not particularly long, but is super clean with a lovely orange rind and citrus seed pucker. This light bodied style of viognier is best exemplified in Vernay’s Condrieu, which has a bit more vibrant acidity, depth, and finish. Very fresh impression here overall, distinct granite minerality, but not buttery or creamy. This is a great warm weather quaffer and will drink very well for 3 or 4 more years. Food wise, try a tangy fresh goat cheese, peekytoe crab salad, or simply seasoned grilled mahi w a squeeze of lime. Anything richer or more complicated will overwhelm the simple grace of this artisanal Condrieu.
