Monday, January 30, 2023 - I need to make sure that I give this wine two hours in the decanter. Bright and a little bit spiky when first opened, it settled in and became significantly more expressive when I poured a glass with dinner. Fresh red fruit, bruised herbs, chalk dust, and a hint of orange peel are supported by elegantly tannins. Where the 2014 version was the lion, and the 2015 was the lamb, the 2016 threads the needle of that much maligned word, balance. This is the vintage that I expect will age the best, though it’s drinking well enough now that I may not manage to keep my hands off of the rest.
