Wednesday, October 14, 2020 - The thing about a Bellingham CB is it has the potential to be a flabby, perfume bomb. After an hour decant, I am happy to report it is not.

Luminescent gold in the glass, the old bush vines are very much in play here – with their granite/shale soils making obvious visual cues.

Is the oak overdone? Yes, but only slightly for me – lots of new oak. I know it provides longevity, but it integrates well on the palate & blows off a bit with time. I get fleshy peach & melon also on the nose, with a whiff of oatmeal.

The palate shines for me, with lavish tropical fruit taking center stage - perhaps pineapple. Yes, the lees really give the texture & weight here, no? Spicy oak and acid are about right on the long finish – batting cleanup, I say.

I am curious to see how this will fare in ’25. It will surely make it. 😊
