Thursday, February 9, 2023 - Chef Don Saunder's food entices 7 city dwellers to our place in the exurbs! 8 of us plus Nita & Joe enjoyed Don's magnificent food tonight 30 miles from downtown Minneapolis. What a night!! CV,KB,SS,CS,DM,DD,LI, & DS. With plenty of air this wine was superb tonight! Kevin's btl tonight and it rocked! I've always been a big Montee De Tonnerre fan. Especially since it can come very close to the Grands for historically a 3rd of the price. Not any longer from the big 3; Raveneau, Dauvissat & Fevre. This btl tonight proved why Raveneau remains top of that pyramid. The sheer intensity, class, power and length here makes this utterly compelling and impossible not turn heads. The most fully realized wine of the night regardless of color. A dream wine for Chablis lovers like myself! And, in a relative sense, an overperformer since it seemed more like what I'd expect from a Rav Les Clos. Thanks Kevin!
