Sunday, January 14, 2024 - Immediately upon opening, the 2017 Léoville Las Cases shows characteristic Las Cases mixed blueberry, cassis, and raspberry with a fresh mineral petrichor element. Then it closes down hard, beginning to (begrudgingly) open back up 12 hours later. But during those moments of clarity and articulation, it seems clear that there's a very fine young Las Cases here with good depth for the vintage and a classic style. I can imagine this as a Las Cases somewhat akin to the 1985; a slightly more elegant rendition than usual.

79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot harvested between September 15 and October 4 with an ABV of 13.28% and a pH of 3.72.

93-95
