Friday, July 29, 2022 - 90 min decant. Very deep dark ruby magenta color. Black cherry, blackberry, cinnamon stick, yellow pound cake, and burnt toast on the rich, decadent nose. Dry, velvety, full bodied palate, with a floral and strawberry cotton candy note. Voluptuous tannins on the longish finish.

This is not for the faint of heart. It’s muscular and over the top, but also shows real finesse. The cotton candy (could also be angel food cake) on the palate and finish imparts a lighter/ethereal quality.

7/31/2022 1:21:00 PM - Nice note. I picked-up a couple bottles in light of the 98 rating from WA and 99 from Dunnuck. Planning to give them at least another year but must likely two to develop further. Always well made but as you touched upon not for the faint of heart and quite often border line over the top for me. Take care.

7/31/2022 1:24:00 PM - My bad - I thought this was a review of the 2019. I agree with your assessment of the 2016. A nice vintage of this wine - although once again border line over the top for me. Monster fruit and a whole lot going on otherwise.
