Friday, October 16, 2015 - Drunk at Amuse Bouche Hong Kong alongside a Magnum of 1934 Lafite (it's a hard life I lead!). There is always some trepidation when opening such old wines from great years like this but there was certainly no need in this case. The first thing of note was the wonderful clarity this bottle possessed, always a good sign in my experience. As you would expect the wine had some brown tinges on the rim but it was by no means past its prime. I venture to say this wine will continue to perform for some years to come. It was beautifully smooth on the palate with a delicacy that great mature Chevals exhibit. Definitely right up there with '47 for me.
