Saturday, July 2, 2022 - What an unexpected delight the 1934 Cheval Blanc provides once it gets onto the palate after leading with a serious, somewhat reserved redcurrant and iron nose. In the mouth, this is ever-expanding and voluminous with wave after wave of blueberry, açaí, potpourri, and exotic spice. There’s still a little velvety tannin providing pleasing structure. Tasted blind, this was so floral with a combination of fresh and mature elements that I thought we had a 1920s-1930s Margaux in the glass. Truly stunning; I equivocated between 98 and 99.
