Wednesday, October 10, 2018 - 50/50 Moscato Ottonel/Vidal, made with a passito process. Nose shows creme brulee, candied orange, vanilla, plastic, deep yellow honeysuckle. Palate is quite sweet, a little out of balance in that way, similar orange and candied notes, sugared pear, honey, roasted pineapple, finishes sweet. I'm looking at a tech sheet that says 12g/L of sugar which would be barely off-dry but think it's supposed to say 120g/L. Likened to an orange muscat, denser than Sauternes with less complexity. Coming from Virginia, it is interesting and likely unlike anything else in that state. Best use of this would be to lay it down for 10 years and see if it develops complexity to balance things out, or drink it 1/2 oz at a time.
