91 Points

Thursday, October 11, 2018 - Dark, dark opaque garnet, color still looks youthful with barely a hint of bricking; lovely nose of subtle dark fruit, hints of creosote and garrigue; the 30% Mourvedre and 20% Syrah overshadow the 30% Grenache (20% Cinsault), with darker red fruit, a bright streak from the Grenache, and that same background creosote/garrigue note from the nose, along with some dried herbs. Good acidity, just a touch of fine, chalky tannins. Depending on how you like your southern Rhones, this could be in a perfect place, or may want another few years to show even more tertiary notes. But it's most definitely on the young side of peak. I own and drink almost no southern Rhone these days, but am very much enjoying this bottle.
