Friday, November 9, 2018 - 2018 Villa d’Este Wine Symposium – Kelly, RJ, Justin and Kevin's excellent adventure; 11/7/2018-11/11/2018 (Villa D’este, Lake Como): Absolutely no idea what to expect, recorked in 1937 and believe to be from the 1870s or even earlier. Slightly cloudy medium to light caramel color. Incredibly complex nose displaying dry peach, yellow raisin, toffee, light caramel, truffle, iron, garrique, cedar and tobacco. Perfectly balanced palate, beautifully layered subtle sweet yellow fruit, still showing generous sweetness, incredibly detailed, energetic and precise and a seamless never ending finish. No great old wines, just great bottles. This is simply perfect.
