100 Points

Thursday, May 2, 2013 - Chambertin / Chambertin-Clos de Bèze dinner (Christie's Directors' Boardroom, 8 King Street, London, UK): Quite a powerhouse of a wine, lots of potential, incredible depth and minerality, energy like a coiled spring, a magical marriage of elegance and perfect intensity, fabulous fruit and amazing length. In no way the closed and surly wine I had anticipated to encounter, but aren't truly great wines great at any age? Perfection. Half a century in it at least.
