Thursday, November 14, 2019 - My first pinot noir from Jura and first non-négoce red from Ganevat so take this with a grain of salt. For my palate this was a delightfully different take on pinot noir -- call it the bantamweight (or flyweight) champion of the varietal. The color of (dilute) cranberry juice, this was extremely light on its feet, but packed a lot of flavor -- red fruits (strawberry & cranberry) predominantly, but also savory elements (sous-bois & rocks) and plenty of acidity, without being at all shrill.
Ordered off the list at Septimes (Paris) for €92 which was a fair value relative to either the retail price for this wine or the alternative of the paired wines (at € 120/two persons, although in fairness they looked interesting too). This was very food friendly and versatile and paired well to very well with all 5 of the savory dishes in their tasting menu.
