Sunday, January 12, 2020 - Davyd's Birthday celebration at ES BK. Tasted blind. Drank in Gabriel Standart.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, gold colour. Thin legs. Fine perlage.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of brioche, bruised apples, golden apples, yellow pears, cream. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium- alcohol (12.5%), medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of rich Meyer lemon, golden apples, yellow pear, butter cream, bits of Oyster shell. Long finish.
Very good quality. Rounded, real pleasant and nice drinking. Perhaps only gripe is lacking raciness and nervosity. I was guessing a Pinot-Chard blend actually.
Turns out to be 100% Chardonnay. Produced by a Champagne coop located in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger in the heart of Côte des Blancs.
