Wednesday, August 2, 2017 - I haven't drunk chateaneuf du pape in a couple of months. It's like coming back to an old friend.

The predominant flavor for me in this wine -- and all great CdPs -- is barleywine, though I would not quibble with calling the flavor "fresh brown fig." Either way, it's a deep and complex flavor. There's still some nice black cherry fruit here, but it's evolving fast. Tannins are fairly strong for CdP -- I like it. I suggest drinking now, though there is plenty of room for aging.
