Thursday, June 13, 2019 - Five winos excellent adventure , mostly in Burgundy; 6/7/2019-6/15/2019 (Beaune, France): Absolutely gorgeous nose displaying perfectly ripe pure black fruit, blackberry, blackberry concentrate, intoxicating perfume, rose, Vosne spice, sap, black truffle and subtle limestone. Perfect balance and incredible detail, so finely layered pure black fruit, intense yet weightless, perfect amount of acidity and mineral, and a seamless long perfectly ripe black fruit driven finish with a hint of Vosne spice at the end. Already a hedonistic experience.

10/3/2022 9:07:00 AM - Hi Kevin, can I ask for your advice - given how the wine tasted/performed when you tried in back in 2019 (~3yrs ago), do you think it needs any preparation (eg. decanting) if one were to open it now?

10/3/2022 9:59:00 AM - I don't decant red Burgundy. For me, it lessens the fruit expression. I would just PnP. It might be in an awkward stage.

10/3/2022 11:20:00 PM - Thanks for the feedback... Personally I do sometimes decant red-Burgs, esp. the younger ones. Some I've encountered actually tasted/performed better with air... In any case, thanks again for getting back!

I don't think we have met. I hope the Grivot showed well. I saw the notes on Burgundy Lover page.

But yes, the '17 Grivot showed very nicely - by itself, with its interplay of different scents on the bouquet, followed by a very suave showing on the palate. However, vs. the other older wines, it lacked the additional element/dimension of age which further adds to the complexity. In due course, I believe this will surpass the many other wines we had that evening...
