Wednesday, June 5, 2019 - From a field blend vineyard in St Helena, planted mostly of Zin and Petite Sirah, as well as Chenin Blanc, Alicante, Carignane, Negrette, Mourvedre, Gamay, Refosco...15.1 abv. Drinks well right out the gate...has the rich dark berry liqueured brambly Zin fruit, with a super polished plushness from the PS. Somewhat easy drinking and not terribly complex...but there is really appealing flavors of white pepper, licorice, underbrush, crushed rock minerality...dark liqueur like berries, yet a lifted tartness of acidity that puckers you to attention. Pretty florals...zin and wood spice...all in super balance. Kind of a more subtle Geyserville...in French oak rather American. I dig this wine!
