95 Points

Wednesday, December 30, 2020 - Slow-oxed for 4 days prior to serving into Zalto Burgundy glass (“Flower” day): Pale ruby to the eyes.

Mix or red berry and cherry fruits, and florals. Hints of balsamic and sweet spices.

Very finely textured on palate with super suave tannins. Good grip of flavours and length. Really enjoyable! 93-94 points to me.

About 1/2 left: more and more powdery cosmetics / floral notes emerged. More about purplish fruits at this stage. Highly finessed on nose and accessible on palate. More towards 94 points for me now.

About 1/3 left: more smoky and tarry notes although remaining more about elegance rather than power here (after all this has been slow-oxed for 4 days), but this is a style that I enjoy. Saline notes on palate and more minerality on palate.

Last few pours: “wow” this is really going up with the extra lift of ethereal fruit and floral notes towards the end of the bottle! More like 94-95 points to me.

Final 2 pours: there is this extremely fine floral, spice-driven nose that really set this apart from most young Barolos for me, incredible showing of a wine at this age... Upgrade to 95 points
