Thursday, June 9, 2011 - It's been a while since I checked in with this wine and all things are system go. Round, dark and brooding, this prodigious and heady sauce molts through differing aromatic layers upon open through fully open. There's plenty of toasted oak, cola, baking spice, overripe strawberry and chocolate raspberry, graham and soy with a resonating beam of brandied morello cherries...ETOH tweaks the nostrils as well. On the palate shows a wide transformation from layered graining of the tannins to a smooth back end. The aromas meld into the mid-palate and moreso the finish, where the ripe fruit extracts warm the tongue. Ambles down the fine line between hot and heavy. An unmistakable KB offering, that should continue to age and hold for another 5+ years.
