Tuesday, September 23, 2008 - There seems to be a love-hate relationship with Kosta Browne's Pinot Noir wines out here in the pinot loving world. Some purists who are stuck in the old worth can't stand it and even refer to it as Syrah. I'm not making that up, someone actually said that to me. However, there are a lot more people on the "love" side of the fence who really appreciate what Dan and Michael have done with these wines. They are big wines with a lot of ripe fruit, a healthy dose of oak, and high alcohol which, if not managed carefully in the wine making process, could end up being disastrous. Here, in the RRV blend, everything is in the right place and in perfect balance and harmony. Don't be afraid to match this wine with a big steak dinner as it definitely has the stuffing for it and it might even overpower more delicate dishes.
