Wednesday, November 4, 2015 - This pristinely-cellared, 10-year-old Châteauneuf is medium garnet in color and shows clean aromas of blackberry, garrigue, white pepper and lavender. Medium-bodied and with nice acidity, it delivers similar flavors which are wrapped by grippy tannins. The middle palate has nice density, there is no alcoholic heat (14%) and the finish is medium in length, although quite astringent from the rustic tannins. I suspect that the tannins will outlast the fruit with this one. That said, there is enough fruit left on this wine to last for at least another five years. During that time the tannins may soften to the point where it will merit a higher score. Drink now-2020.
