Thursday, May 2, 2019 - Pobega'd from the UPS truck not long after lunch. Afternoon Delight

Wine is bright light yellow in the glass.

Day1. 1st glass room temp, then 2nd flas chilled chilled. Hints of flint, minerals, shells, and citrus on the nose. The Palate is lemony, and granny smith apple, minerality, and some almost savory with hints of coffee with medium rich mouthfeel which lingers with the quite long finish. Bracing acid throughout this wine.

Day2. Flint and minerals still there on the nose but the nose has opened up quite a bit. Same on the palate. A bit rounder with more fruit and softer acid. Still that long finish. Slightly softer and rounder.

2017 appears a cooler more chiseled vintage. It's seemingly leaner and more linear than 2016, 2015, & 2014. This wine is super young and needs some time in bottle. Although this is the value Cuvee bottling, this wine has plenty of structure for the next five years. I've had a '16 and '15 recently, and I think they are drinking better at the moment, but this 2017 might have the most structure of the bunch.

As Rick Allen said:

"If this is the entry level stuff, I'm going to be all-in on higher end Goodfellow Chardonnays!"

Can't wait to see what the Richards, Durant and the new offering tastes like. Top QPR as usual.
