Saturday, December 25, 2021 - - no decanting
- Nose: Medium + intense, youthful aromas of strawberries and fresh raspberries, candy floss and some sweet, candied red fruits. Plus lots of ash, smoky nuances that are probably typical for New Zealand.
- Palate: Although Pinot can be a bit lean in itself, the Felton Road comes across as mouth-filling and integrated. A medium + animating acidity and ripe, medium tannins characterise the wine. Compared to many Burgundies, this has less fruit ripeness but a layer of stony, smoky flavours. The finish is a little too short.
- Can be drunk nicely now, still has potential (rather five than ten years).
