Thursday, November 9, 2023 - Opened in Hong Kong. DRC Assortment Tasting.

This was the only wine of the flight not from 2014. It also happened to be our collective WOTN.

This is an epic wine. Incredibly aromatic upon first pour: white flowers mixed with butter and brioche. Yet, the nose kept on evolving over the course of several hours. At some points there was more popcorn, at other times there was more salinity coming through. On the palate, this is as intense as Chardonnay can get. Great richness which is balanced by sharp acidity and minerality. This wine just keeps giving and there are so many layers to peel back.

For my tastes, this wine is at peak. This should hold for a few years at least, but if you are lucky enough to have this in your cellar, don't hesitate to open this for a (very) special occasion!
