Sunday, April 4, 2004 - ($30) Blind Spanish Wines at De Tapas: Blind Red 5 - First observation is the heavy bottle. Deeply color and a "big" wine all around given the density in the glass and my initial reaction to the nose. Slightly high-toned smelling with some stonefruit and red berries. Rich, sweet, and well structured/balanced on the palate. Does have some unresolved acid or tannin in the finish. Strangely, I don’t perceive oak on the nose, but there is definitely a toasty oak profile on the palate. Pepper as an afterthought. Grenache? This is really nice.
