Saturday, December 27, 2008 - The 2002 vintage of this wine is one of my all time favorites, this 2004 is also quite good. The color is a bright scarlet, it looks well aged and full bodied. The nose is quite open with blackberry, chocolate, oak, leather and a slight tobacco odor. The taste is what I've come to expect of good vintage of this reserve cabernet blend. The tart full fruit strikes the palette first with a wave of sweetness and complexity. The middle has an acidic structure as the fruit fades away to a long tannin finish. This wine will get even better as the tannins mellow over the next few years but may never be as good as the 2002. 94
