Tuesday, July 4, 2017 - In light of others' comments, I was surprised to find the fruit overripe for my taste. Not what I would call "muted" or "understated" even for a California Cab. Perhaps I just caught the wine on a bad day (or three, since I came back to it twice), but the nose ranged from intense fruit to spirit, without the florals some have described, and the palate, while balanced somewhat by some restrained tannin and the beginnings of secondary leathery notes, tasted mostly of berries that have sat a day or more too long. For what it's worth, it was best on day 4.
