Monday, December 4, 2023 - Highly aromatic - bright cranberry and cherry smells, a bit of an alcohol overtone. Christmas spices. Fun - makes me think of a French bistro. The flavor profile is unique - still feeling very French, cool vintage - maybe from Alsace? Soft mouth feel, medium acidity with red fruit and wood flavors. Cranberry from the nose is still there, lending the acidity. Red currant and not-yet-ripe strawberry. The wood flavor slowly builds, moving from new-oak vanilla into a darker old wood flavor that lingers on the palate. The finish is very long - 45 - 60 seconds. The wine really begs for food - bistro type food, grilled vegetables, mushrooms, chicken or pork stew. Fun!
