Tuesday, July 11, 2023 - This wine offers pinot layered characteristics in spades. Medium ruby garnet color starting to show rim variation. Drink now. Opens with an intense blackberry nose, followed by baking spices, then cola beautifully balancing the fruit with a softly textured medium plus acidity and low tannins. Moderate length finish Even with its cool climate, Toulouse Vineyard/Anderson valley shows fewer forest floor and mushroomy notes than its Oregon neighbors. Too bad that Mac Phail is gone as theirs were some of California's most elegant wines.
