The cork was weak, and broke even though I was using the 2-prong thing rather than the corkscrew. I couldn't prevent the bottom piece falling in. But after decanting it through a strainer into another bottle, it proved perfectly drinkable.

It has a classic old riesling palate. The acidity is rather powerful, but there is just enough weight remaining to balance it. But it is fairly simple, lacking any great interest, and could be a spatlese at this weight. I opened it to drink with gravadlax, and it was a good match for that. But I wouldn't know the difference from a much more modest and younger wine.
