Friday, April 16, 2010 - More at home in Spain, the prospect of an Argentinean Tempranillo was actually pretty exciting! It's made from 100% Tempranillo originating in the Santa Rosa vineyard, Mendoza. After fermentation it was matured in new (medium-toast) American oak barrels for 1 year. The resulting wine is plum red in colour. Aromas on the nose include blackberry, cherry and a hint of spiciness from the oak. The palate is surprisingly savoury and delicate. It shows tobacco, cigar box and white pepper notes and has a long clean finish.
