Wednesday, August 5, 2020 - Unique blend of 47% Sauvignon Blanc, 33% Sauvignon Gris and 20% Sauvignon Vert. Hence, the name “Tre Sauvignon.” Sauvignon Vert used to be widely planted in Chile and mistaken for Sauvignon Blanc. It’s since been replaced by actual Sauvignon Blanc. In Italy, Sauvignon Vert is known as Friulano. Sauvignon Gris on the other hand, is often blended with Sauvignon Blanc in Chile and Bordeaux. The color is yellow with a tinge of green. It’s a little lighter in color than most Sauvignon Blanc here. The nose is of citrus and herbal notes. On the palate, there’s ripe pear, a little citrus and minerality. Overall, there’s a less acidity and more sweetness than an average Chilean Sauvignon Blanc. It lacks intensity and length, but I won’t complain given the $5 price tag here in Chile.
