Tuesday, November 21, 2023 - PnP. Deep garnet with bright pink edge in color. Muted nose of morello cherries, saddle leather and plum. On the palate: bright berries, violets, raspberries & wood spice. Sandy tannins are perceived on cheeks and gums. Long finish of red berries, red licorice, red apple skin and glints of baking spice. Tremendous intensity and relatively high acid balancing the fruit to make this feel medium-to-light on the tongue. Definitely needs a lot more air--or, ideally, time in the cellar. The wine did not fully unpack and given the intensity I think it would easily gain 2+ points had I given it the chance.
