Wednesday, May 26, 2021 - One of those corporate gift wines you get in fancy baskets. And that's exactly how I got it, too. I dreaded opening it, to be honest.

Well, it wasn't as bad as I thought.

It had a little fruit-forwardness that made it feel a little fresher. Sure, there's oak there, and perhaps a little more sweetness than I'd like, but it wasn't offensive. There were some woodsy and chalky notes. Oaky but not over-oaked. Tannins quite light. Nothing new here really, just not turned up to 11 which is commendable.

But again, it just hammers home how incredibly hard it is to find Cab Sauv's in the lighter style with no to very light oak influence - they're like unicorns here in CA.
