Wednesday, April 10, 2024 - A pale medium red, a bright sheen to it. Lovely nose, wafts of cherry, flowers and bitumen, a swirl brings it all to the fore. A bit brutal on the palate upon opening in the morning, but immediately recorked and then benefitted from 12 hours before being broached in the evening by which time it was completely different and considerably softer. Don't get me wrong, they don't disappear, but this definitely needs with air or time. It was not quite as compelling as the 2017 Massolino, but it had a very elegant purity to it, quite a racy wine, crunchy fruit and a tangy acid core. Took this to a local Sardinian restuarant where matched the veal very well. Plenty of time in hand here, and excellent value.
