Friday, January 13, 2006 - Consumed over a period of three hours. The wine hit it’s peak openness after 20 minutes, then closed up after two hours. An impressive nose of sweet cheery and dark red fruit, spice and very smooth tannins. I thought it was drinking very well although a little under my expectations. At the end, it’s just closed, nose drops off, an ever so slight vegetal streak develops. Finish was short to medium in length with some initial dryness at first but a smooth finish at the end. I have a 1/3 bottle caped off and we’ll see what happens tomorrow.
Day2.
Unfortunately, no real improvement and a decline instead. The wine has gotten harsher in the mouth as a result of sitting for a day. Vegetal element is gone, but a pronounced acidic bite in the mouth is noticeable. I would score this several points lower than the first day.
