Friday, September 5, 2008 - Opened and had side by side with a bottle of the 93 as well and I couldn't really detect much difference between the two of them. I do think that the 95 a little better and slightly more complex but some of the extra nuances may have been hidden as we opened, and enjoyed these wines, in a 55 degree wine cellar. As with the 93, if I was tasting this blind, I would have guessed a mid-level left bank Bordeaux of similar age. It has the earthy leathery scents mixed with the fruit that would make me lean in that direction. Having recently had the 2004 and 2005, I can definitely see a difference in style between the older QCs and the young, and interestingly enough much more higher rated, QC cabs. Will those big 100 pointers hold up over the next ten or fifteen years?
