Saturday, November 25, 2017 - Decanted for 3 hours, and continued to open during the meal. With only 5% Sangiovese, this wine took on most of its qualities from the Cabernet Sauvignon. Dark red fruits, cassis, earth, and graphite in a medium plus body. Acidity is nicely balanced, but the tannins are a bit 'grippy', so plan for several hours of aeration. Somewhat reminiscent of Left Bank (hi Cab) Bordeaux, as opposed to California Cab (Napa or Paso), and you have to remind yourself that this is Italian! Will continue to develop, then hold, for several more years, at least.
