Saturday, February 20, 2021 - Another beautiful bottle of this. Deep sweet and sour dark fruit, leather, elderflower, smoke, graphite, deep minerality with lead pencil, also some cigar box/cedar wood and dark chocolate. It‘s medium-full bodied, with medium-high acidity, medium+ tannin that is present but excellent quality. There is also an element of creaminess that is balanced beautifully by the freshness. Long finish with plenty of tension and complexity. A superb Sammarco and at age 16 it‘s still going strong. Wow I love this. I can‘t wait until the other great vintages like 2010 are hitting their drinking window.
No rush in drinking this, it's even better on day 2 and from my perspective, has another 5-10 years of drinking window.
Impressive.
